How we write

We explain the cheapest likely fix first and give real numbers wherever we can: airflow in CFM, duct sizes, mounting heights and cleaning intervals. When a rule comes from a building code, we name the section, usually the International Residential Code (IRC) Section M1503. Local codes vary, so check with your building department before you cut a hole in a wall or roof.
